Pakistan enters an agreement with Trump-linked crypto firm to explore digital payments

ISLAMABAD: A delegation representing a prominent U.S. financial firm has expressed interest in Pakistan’s secure and transparent digital payment infrastructure.

Details emerging on Wednesday revealed that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held discussions in Islamabad with representatives from World Liberty Financial. During the meeting, Pakistan formalized a partnership with the U.S.-based company by signing a memorandum of understanding focused on advancing digital payment systems. The Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, was also in attendance at the event.

Addressing global investors during the meeting, the prime minister emphasized Pakistan’s growing significance in the global digital finance arena. He highlighted that fostering digital payments and financial innovation is critical for boosting economic progress. Key agreements were reached on collaboration in cross-border digital transactions and foreign exchange systems.

Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb signed the memorandum of understanding alongside the chief executive officer of World Liberty Financial, signaling a commitment to strengthening Pakistan’s digital economic framework.
