QUETTA: An incident occurred in the Roghani area of Union Council Chaman, where a polio eradication team faced a violent attack, culminating in the tragic loss of a police officer assigned to ensure their security.
Reports reveal that unidentified militants targeted the team during the polio campaign. The attack claimed the life of police officer Nizamuddin, who heroically defended the team. Deputy Commissioner Chaman, Habib Ahmed Bangalzai, stated that the assailants, riding a motorcycle, opened fire on the officer while the team was engaged in administering polio drops to children inside a house, leaving the health workers unharmed.
Following the attack, the police transported the fallen officer’s body to Chaman Civil Hospital for legal formalities. The area was subsequently sealed off, and security measures were reinforced to prevent further threats, as confirmed by the deputy commissioner.
