Imran Khan’s Medical Assessment
At the age of 73, Imran Khan underwent an extensive medical check-up on February 15, 2026. The examination was conducted by a specialized medical board comprising Professor Dr. Nadeem Qureshi from Al-Shifa Trust Eye Hospital and Professor Dr. Muhammad Arif Khan from the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).
The report highlighted that his central macular thickness had reduced from 550 microns to 350 microns, signifying notable improvement in his condition. Furthermore, his visual acuity in the affected right eye showed progress, moving from 6/36 to 6/9. The doctors assessed the current state as satisfactory.
Without corrective lenses, his right eye’s vision measured at 6/24, while his left eye stood at 6/9. When wearing glasses, his right eye vision improved further to 6/9, and his left eye reached 6/6.
Prescribed Medications and Follow-Up Recommendations
The medical board not only detailed the current status of Imran Khan’s eye health but also provided specific treatment recommendations. These included the usage of Nevanac eye drops in both eyes twice daily, Cosopt eye drops in the right eye twice daily, and Systane Ultra eye drops in both eyes three times a day. Additionally, they advised administering a second dose of the Anti-VEGF injection as per the prescribed schedule.
The doctors recommended further diagnostic tests, including OCT angiography and Fundus Fluorescein Angiography (FFA), to be performed after the completion of the Anti-VEGF treatment series.
After visiting Imran Khan at Adiala Jail, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan and Senator Allama Raja Nasir Abbas attended a briefing at PIMS with the medical experts regarding Khan’s health status. His personal physicians, Dr. Asim Yousaf and Dr. Khurram Mirza, also received detailed updates via telephone communication.
