PM Shehbaz contacts Saudi, UAE leaders amid Gulf tensions

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed Pakistan’s willingness to support peace efforts as tensions rise in the Gulf following Israeli and U.S. strikes on Iran.

In a telephone call with Mohammed bin Salman, the Prime Minister condemned the sharp escalation triggered by Israel’s attack on Iran and the subsequent strikes reported in parts of the Gulf region. He expressed hope that the holy month of Ramadan would usher in peace and stability.

Shehbaz Sharif assured the Saudi leadership that Pakistan stands firmly with the Kingdom during this challenging period, emphasizing that Islamabad’s support for Riyadh remains unwavering.

In a separate conversation, the Prime Minister also spoke with Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi. He strongly criticized the intensifying regional tensions and condemned reported strikes affecting the UAE and other Gulf states.

The Prime Minister conveyed Pakistan’s solidarity with the Emirati leadership and people, underscoring the long-standing brotherly ties between the two nations. He reiterated Pakistan’s readiness to contribute constructively toward regional peace.

Shehbaz Sharif also expressed profound sorrow over the death of a Pakistani national in a missile strike in Abu Dhabi, extending heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
