Two sailors injured after fire on U.S. aircraft carrier in red sea

WEB DESK: A fire incident aboard the U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford in the Red Sea left two sailors injured, officials confirmed.

The U.S. Navy reported that the fire began in the vessel’s laundry area and was not connected to any combat activity. Crew members quickly responded and successfully extinguished the fire. Authorities said the ship remains fully operational.

Two sailors suffered injuries during the incident but are reported to be in stable condition and receiving medical treatment. Navy officials also confirmed that the fire did not cause damage to the carrier’s engines or other critical systems.

The USS Gerald R. Ford, the most advanced and largest aircraft carrier in the U.S. Navy, is currently deployed in the Red Sea as part of operations linked to rising tensions with Iran.

Officials added that the injured crew members are under medical care and their condition is not considered life-threatening.

The massive warship carries more than 5,000 personnel and is capable of operating over 75 aircraft, including F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter jets used in combat missions.
