RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has announced that the Shawwal moon was not sighted, confirming that Eid al-Fitr will be observed on Friday, March 20.
Various cities’ moonsighting committees held meetings to observe the Shawwal lunar sighting. The Saudi Supreme Court also appealed to citizens to report any moon sightings; however, no reports of the moon’s sighting were received from anywhere in the kingdom.
After reviewing all reports from the observatories and moon-sighting committees across the country, the Supreme Court officially declared that Ramadan 1447 AH will consist of a complete 30 days. Consequently, Eid al-Fitr will be celebrated on March 20, 2026, Friday.
With no moon sighting reported, the first day of Shawwal 1447 AH will begin on March 20, marking the start of Eid celebrations across Saudi Arabia.
