Iran launches missile strikes across region, targets Israel, US bases

TEHRAN: Iran’s elite Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has claimed responsibility for a new wave of missile and drone attacks targeting Israel and multiple locations hosting US forces across the Middle East, according to state media.

A statement aired by Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting said the strikes were carried out using advanced precision-guided missiles, including both liquid- and solid-fuel systems, along with attack drones. The targets reportedly included sites inside Israel  referred to as “occupied territories” as well as US military installations in Kuwait, Jordan, and Bahrain.

Regional defences activated

In response, Kuwaiti forces moved quickly to intercept incoming threats. The country’s military confirmed that its air defence systems were actively engaging missiles and drones during the early hours of Wednesday. Officials also reported earlier drone incidents, including one that triggered a fire at Kuwait’s main international airport.

Conflict spreads across the Gulf

The latest attacks highlight the widening scope of the ongoing regional conflict, now entering its fourth week. Gulf nations remain on high alert as cross-border strikes continue to escalate tensions.

Pakistan calls for peace talks

Amid rising hostilities, Shehbaz Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s support for diplomatic solutions. In a message shared on the platform X, he emphasized the importance of dialogue to bring an end to the conflict.

Pakistan has also expressed willingness to host negotiations aimed at achieving a ceasefire and restoring stability in the Middle East.

“Pakistan fully supports all efforts focused on dialogue and peace for the region and beyond,” the prime minister stated.
