KP Sees 65% Drop in Terror Incidents Following Launch of Operation Ghazab lil-Haq

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has witnessed a significant decline in terror-related incidents after the launch of Operation Ghazab lil-Haq, aimed at dismantling terrorist networks and their support bases in Afghanistan, police reported on Saturday.

According to the latest KP police data, the province recorded 240 terror incidents earlier this year before the operation commenced. Since the launch, only 80 incidents have been reported, marking a 65% decrease in violence. In total, 323 terror cases have been documented in KP so far in 2026.

The operation was launched last month in response to cross-border attacks by the Afghan Taliban, which targeted Pakistan along the border regions. Officials said the military campaign has so far resulted in the deaths of 684 Afghan Taliban fighters, with over 912 others injured.

Information Minister Ataullah Tarar highlighted that the operation also led to the destruction of 229 military assets, including tanks, armoured vehicles, and artillery guns, dealing a significant blow to militant infrastructure.

Security sources described the operation as a “decisive step” in securing KP and stabilising the border areas, stressing that continued vigilance will be key to maintaining the downward trend in terrorist activities.
