PSL 11: Lahore Qalandars out of playoffs, Hyderabad Kings qualify

KARACHI: In PSL 11, Hyderabad Kings secured a place in the playoffs after a 108-run victory over Islamabad United.

The match, played at the National Bank Cricket Arena in Karachi, saw Islamabad United win the toss and elect to field first. Hyderabad Kings batted first and scored 244 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their 20 overs. 

Glenn Maxwell was the top scorer, smashing 70 runs off 37 balls in a fiery innings. Alongside him, Osman Khan contributed 54 runs, and Kusal Perera scored 50, helping set a formidable target. Chasing 245, Islamabad United was bowled out for 136 runs in 17.1 overs, falling well short of the target.

From Islamabad, Oliver Pope made a strong resistance, remaining not out with 66 runs, but he received little support as wickets kept falling.

On the bowling front, Hyderabad Kings’ Hasan Shah took 4 wickets, while Akeef Javed claimed 3.

It is important to note that Islamabad United needed to restrict Hyderabad Kings to 158 runs to reach the playoffs, but they fell short.

With Hyderabad Kings advancing to the playoffs, defending champions Lahore Qalandars have been eliminated from the tournament.
