Six-member kidney trafficking gang arrested in Lahore’s Manga Mandi area

LAHORE: Lahore police have detained a six-person group accused of running an illegal organ trade network during a targeted operation in Manga Mandi.

Officials said the raid was carried out near Multan Road in the Wazir Palace vicinity, where the suspects were apprehended on suspicion of involvement in unlawful kidney transplantation and trafficking activities.

Investigators allege the group operated an organised scheme in which financially vulnerable individuals were allegedly lured with money and then exploited, with their kidneys removed and sold illegally.

Police identified the arrested suspects as Qasim, Fayyaz, Maqsood, Riaz, Iqbal, and Mureed Hassan. Authorities also recovered a substantial amount of cash from their possession during the operation.

A formal case has been registered, and investigators are now working to trace the wider network and possible additional accomplices.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Saddar Abdullah Imran Cheema said those involved in exploiting human lives would face strict legal consequences, stressing that no leniency would be shown to such criminal activity.
