ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reiterated that the government’s top development priorities include hydropower initiatives. During a meeting in Islamabad today, he stated that ministries demonstrating strong performance will be prioritized for funding in upcoming development plans.
The Prime Minister emphasized that public funds will be allocated solely to projects that guarantee tangible results. He underscored the importance of water reservoirs and hydropower schemes, indicating that efforts to enhance water storage capacity will receive special attention.
Shehbaz Sharif also directed authorities to promote public-private collaborations in development projects to maximize efficiency and impact. He praised Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb for the successful issuance of Panda Bonds, noting their favorable market response. Additionally, he commended the ministries of Railways, Information Technology, and Power for their effective performance.
The session included a review of the current year’s Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) and discussed upcoming projects, along with the necessary funding for the next fiscal year. Updates on significant water storage and hydropower projects, such as Dasu Dam, Diamer-Bhasha Dam, and Mohmand Dam, were also presented.
