KARACHI: New details have emerged in the case of Hyderabad-based alleged drug trafficker Ambreen alias Gudi Chandio, with investigators revealing ongoing efforts to probe her broader network and potential connections within law enforcement.
Sources familiar with the investigation stated that Ambreen Gudi Chandio’s spouse is a retired police officer. Additionally, authorities have launched a separate inquiry into a former Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) linked to the case.
Officials further disclosed that approximately ten police personnel from the Hyderabad region are currently under investigation for possible contact with the suspect, raising concerns about internal complicity in facilitating her drug operations.
Investigation reports suggest that the accused may have exploited family ties to distribute narcotics within educational institutions, including universities and colleges. A close relative of Ambreen Gudi Chandio, reportedly a university student, is believed to be involved in part of the drug distribution network.
Law enforcement officials have identified at least seven associates connected to the suspect within Hyderabad’s police jurisdiction, with efforts ongoing to uncover additional members of the alleged trafficking ring.
The investigation is expanding as authorities aim to dismantle a potentially extensive drug trafficking operation involving several facilitators and suspected insider collusion.
This crackdown follows a recent raid in Aliabad Colony under Hatri Police Station, during which female drug dealer Ambreen alias Gudi was apprehended. Police recovered over three kilograms of charas and 23 grams of heroin from her possession. She faces six criminal cases registered against her across different police stations and excise departments.
This arrest marks the third major breakthrough in the ongoing crackdown, following the detentions of Nargis alias Malka, arrested from Swati Mohalla near Khudadad Graveyard, and Anmol alias Pinky, a suspected cocaine trafficker taken into custody from Karachi’s Garden area.
