PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has officially declared summer vacations for schools in the province’s plain areas as temperatures continue to soar.
An official notice from the education department stated that schools and colleges in the plain districts of KP will remain closed from June 1 to August 31, 2026. However, the holiday period will effectively start earlier, from May 22, due to Eid holidays along with the regular weekly breaks on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
The education authorities clarified that the summer vacation schedule for both the plains and the mountainous regions had been set well in advance. Schools situated in the colder, hilly parts of KP are scheduled to observe their summer break from July 1 to July 31, 2026.
This decision comes amid a nationwide trend where several provinces have opted to close schools temporarily in response to extreme weather conditions. Earlier this month, Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan announced their summer holiday schedules to safeguard students from the intense heat.
