Pakistan marks Youm-e-Takbeer with patriotic zeal, national pride

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is observing Youm-e-Takbeer today with great national enthusiasm and patriotic spirit, commemorating the historic nuclear tests conducted on May 28, 1998. The day marks a defining moment in the country’s history when Pakistan emerged as the world’s seventh nuclear power and the first Muslim-majority nation to possess nuclear capability.

Under the leadership of renowned scientists Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan and Dr Samar Mubarakmand, Pakistan successfully carried out nuclear tests in the Ras Koh Hills of Chaghai, Balochistan. The achievement symbolized the nation’s determination to safeguard its sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity against all external threats.

The decision, taken by then Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif despite intense international pressure, came in response to India’s nuclear tests and restored strategic balance in South Asia. The successful tests reflected not only Pakistan’s scientific excellence but also the unity and resilience of its people.
