SHANGLA: In a devastating incident in Shangla district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, six children, including five girls, lost their lives when the roof of their home collapsed late Monday night.
The tragedy occurred in the Alpuri tehsil of Shangla, prompting immediate response from police and local residents who rushed to the scene and transported the victims to a nearby hospital. One young girl sustained injuries and was also taken for medical treatment.
The children who died were identified as Nazira, Sameera, Rizwan, Nayab, Haya Noor, and Umera, aged between five and 14 years. Authorities revealed that their father had passed away some time ago, and the family did not possess a cemented or structurally sound house, which likely contributed to the collapse.
This incident echoes a previous tragedy in November 2025, when a roof caved in during a funeral prayer for a man who died in a jeep accident at Lari Peer Khana, injuring several mourners. The recurring incidents highlight the fragile housing conditions in the region and the need for improved safety measures.
