LONDON: Prominent Pakistani actress Mahira Khan has highlighted the critical need to raise awareness about mental health issues, emphasizing that many individuals still feel embarrassed to discuss their mental well-being. She called for efforts to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental illnesses and encourage more open conversations.
During her interaction with the media at a British Asian Trust event in London, Mahira addressed the importance of mental health awareness. She pointed out that mental health conditions are as serious as physical illnesses and condemned societal issues such as harassment and violence. She stressed that changing societal attitudes and setting positive examples are essential steps forward.
Mahira also shared insights into her recent meeting with King Charles. She described the encounter as significant and said, “Engaging with King Charles’s trust is a meaningful experience. We had a very pleasant discussion. He expressed his appreciation for my work with the British Asian Trust. He is truly a charming and gracious person.”
The actress further revealed that the King showed genuine interest in her social work and inquired about the well-being of others. “He was well-informed about my involvement in various social causes and asked about the current situation,” she added.
