Afghan national among two militants killed in Mohmand intelligence operation

MOHMAND: Security forces eliminated two militants during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Sheikh Banda area of Mohmand district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, security officials said.

According to the sources, the operation, conducted on June 4, 2026, resulted in the death of an Afghan national identified as Umar Bilal, a resident of Afghanistan’s Khost province. Authorities recovered an Afghan identity card issued by the Interim Afghan administration, foreign currency, sophisticated weapons, and a suicide vest from his possession.

Officials said the recovery of the identification documents points to the involvement of foreign nationals in militant activities targeting Pakistan and reinforces concerns over cross-border terrorism.

Security experts believe the presence of Afghan citizens in such networks reflects ongoing regional security challenges and the need for stronger measures to prevent cross-border infiltration.

Pakistan has consistently expressed concern at international forums over the alleged use of Afghan territory by militant groups to launch attacks inside the country. Security forces reiterated their resolve to continue operations aimed at eliminating terrorism and maintaining peace.

27 Militants Killed in North Waziristan

In a separate operation, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said security forces killed 27 militants during multiple intelligence-based operations in the Miran Shah area of North Waziristan over the past 72 hours.

The military’s media wing stated that the militants were neutralized after intense exchanges of fire. A cache of weapons and ammunition was also recovered, while officials said those killed had been involved in numerous terrorist attacks and targeted killings of civilians.
