ISLAMABAD: Diplomatic insiders reveal that President Pezeshkian is set to hold important discussions with Pakistani leaders, including President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, during his time in Islamabad. The agenda is expected to include bolstering bilateral ties, enhancing trade and economic collaboration, and exchanging views on regional security issues and other mutual interests.
Preparations for the visit are nearing completion. Authorities have decorated major routes within Islamabad’s Red Zone, displaying both Pakistani and Iranian flags to honor the occasion and symbolize the longstanding relationship between the two nations. Security measures across the capital have been intensified to ensure safety during the visit.
Sources also indicate that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had recently extended an official invitation to President Pezeshkian through diplomatic channels, which was accepted. However, neither Pakistani nor Iranian officials have issued an official statement confirming the visit.
Meanwhile, technical negotiations between Iran and the United States are ongoing this week in Switzerland. Following the first round of talks aimed at ending the conflict in the Middle East, mediators Pakistan and Qatar announced that discussions would continue at the Burgenstock resort on various issues throughout the week.
