DIAMER: Last night, flash floods in various valleys of Diamer caused widespread destruction. According to local police, the floods destroyed numerous homes, trees, crops, connecting bridges, water channels, and irrigation structures. The Karakoram Highway has also been affected by landslides at multiple locations.
In Chilas, the Karakoram Highway near Governor Farm Nursery has been closed since last night following a flood surge. The closure has resulted in long queues of vehicles on both sides of the road.
Reports indicate that stranded travelers, including children, women, and the elderly, are facing severe difficulties. They have demanded the government to restore traffic on the Karakoram Highway immediately.
Efforts are ongoing by relevant authorities to assess the damage in affected areas and to carry out repairs on roads and bridges.
