117 terrorists killed in Balochistan since July 5, say security officials

QUETTA: Since July 5, security forces have eliminated at least 117 terrorists across Balochistan, according to authorities.

The joint operation, named Operation Shaban, involving the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps, and police, is ongoing and will persist until all militants are subdued.

Targeting India-backed terrorists, the operation employs both air and ground assaults, security sources confirmed.

Earlier today, five additional terrorists were killed during fresh raids, bringing the total to 76 militants neutralized in Operation Shaban.

Authorities also recovered a large cache of weapons, including M4 rifles, submachine guns, rocket launchers, mobile phones, and other equipment from the militants.

Operation Shaban was initiated following a deadly attack on the Mangi Dam police station in Ziarat.

Recent terrorist assaults in Balochistan have claimed the lives of 42 people, including security personnel and civilians.

ISPR Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry stated that terrorists backed by India targeted a checkpoint, but police bravely engaged, killing 15 militants early on.

Nine police officers lost their lives in the initial fighting, with militants taking some officers hostage before security forces intervened.

Since the Taliban’s rise to power in Afghanistan in 2021, terrorist activities have surged in regions like Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

In response, Pakistan launched Operation Ghazab lil-Haq, targeting terrorist hideouts across the border, resulting in the death of numerous Afghan Taliban operatives and injuries to hundreds.

Despite multiple negotiations, tensions persist, largely due to the Afghan Taliban’s unwillingness to act against terrorist groups operating from Afghan territory.
