Reko Diq Mining Company hosts workshop to boost local supplier capabilities

WEB DESK: Reko Diq Mining Company has successfully conducted its inaugural Vendor Capacity Enhancement Program, aiming to empower local businesses, especially in Chagai district, Balochistan. The initiative is designed to increase the involvement of regional suppliers and expand their role in the procurement activities of the Reko Diq project.

The first phase of the program trained representatives from ten local firms situated in Priority Area 1 (P1), including regions such as Humay, Mashkicha, Dorban Cha, Nokcha, Hamaal Aap, Karta Kha, and Kachao.

The company announced that the subsequent phase will broaden the program’s reach to Priority Area 2, which encompasses Taffan, Sindh, Nokundi, Yak Munch, Daldan Din, and Chagai Town.

Over the course of four days, participating local vendors received hands-on training on the company’s procurement policies, online registration via the ‘Ariba Network,’ bid preparation, logistics, taxation, and payment processes.

In his closing remarks, Young Anselin, the Supply Chain Manager at Reko Diq Mining, highlighted the importance of nurturing local enterprises for the project’s sustained success. He emphasized that aligning local suppliers with international standards not only fortifies the supply chain but also fosters long-term economic development in the region.

Deputy Commissioner of Chagai, Jahanzeb Noor Shahwani, along with Assistant Commissioner Taffan, Abdullah Kashani, visited the training sessions and lauded the company’s efforts to enhance the skills and capabilities of local entrepreneurs.

The event concluded with the distribution of certificates among the participants, recognizing their active engagement and commitment.
