LAHORE: The Punjab Wildlife Department has rescued two white lion cubs during a raid in Lahore’s Kahna area and relocated them to Lahore Safari Zoo as part of its campaign against illegal wildlife possession and trafficking across the province.
A spokesperson for the department said the cubs were safely recovered and are now being housed at the Safari Zoo, where they will receive appropriate veterinary care and a secure environment.
In a separate enforcement action in Multan, officials fined an individual Rs50,000 for engaging in the unlawful trade of exotic birds.
In Rajanpur, wildlife authorities apprehended a man for illegally hunting doves and imposed a departmental fine of Rs15,000.
The spokesperson added that operations carried out in Lahore, Multan, and Rajanpur led to the collection of Rs65,000 in fines from two violators.
Separately, Wildlife Rangers in Mianwali intervened to halt an illegal partridge-fighting event, highlighting the department’s continued efforts to curb wildlife-related offences and enforce conservation regulations throughout Punjab.
