KARACHI: Sindh’s Minister Saeed Ghani stated on Saturday that there is no justification for creating a new province within Sindh, During a press conference in Karachi, he clarified that only Punjab has passed a resolution advocating for the formation of South Punjab as a separate province. Ghani pointed out that the Senate has also approved a resolution with a two-thirds majority supporting the division of Punjab, indicating that the people there are in favor of establishing new administrative units.
Ghani criticized the election process, suggesting that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) often achieved victories through electoral manipulation. He claimed, “Everyone knows that the 2024 general elections were marred by rigging,” noting that prominent leaders like Nawaz Sharif, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Maryam Nawaz lost their seats.
He further accused Nawaz Sharif of reaching an agreement with the establishment in 1999 and fleeing to Saudi Arabia. Ghani also responded to Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari, who had remarked that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) should not lecture PML-N on democratic principles. Ghani emphasized that PPP leaders and workers have historically sacrificed their lives for democracy and do not require validation from others.
He added that, in fact, PPP is better suited to lecturing PML-N on democratic values. Ghani also criticized Punjab ministers for repeatedly mentioning Maryam Nawaz’s name and taking credit for achievements attributed to her. Regarding Karachi Port, he stated that if there are issues, they are the fault of the federal government, not the Sindh administration.
Ghani clarified that the Sindh government has no objections to hospitals being established in Punjab but urged others not to spread falsehoods about Sindh. He highlighted the NICVD (National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases) as one of the world’s top hospitals for heart treatment, mentioning that over the past year, approximately 8,000 patients from Punjab received free treatment there.
