KARACHI: In a brazen attack, armed assailants robbed Rs 6.5 million from employees at Edhi Home in Sohrab Goth,
Sources stated that it was payday, and the money had been withdrawn from the bank for distribution among staff members when four armed men followed the employees to the facility and made off with the cash.
Law enforcement officials, including SSP Central Dr. Imran, quickly arrived at the scene. Authorities revealed that investigations are ongoing, with eyewitness statements being recorded and CCTV footage being reviewed.
Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah responded to the incident by ordering a detailed inquiry from the Inspector General of Police. He emphasized the importance of safeguarding institutions like Edhi Home, which provides aid to the vulnerable, and condemned the attack. The CM directed authorities to contact Edhi management immediately and ensure the culprits are brought to justice, reaffirming that safeguarding lives and property remains a top government priority.
Sindh Interior Minister Zia Ul Hassan Lanjar also expressed concern, calling for a swift investigation. He instructed police to utilize modern surveillance tools and CCTV footage to identify and apprehend the suspects promptly, and to recover the stolen funds.
Lanjar reiterated that targeting a respected welfare organization such as the Edhi Foundation is unacceptable, and those responsible will face strict action. He urged law enforcement to coordinate closely with Edhi officials to gather further details and expedite the investigation.
