PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has proposed a 20 percent increase in toll charges for Swat Expressway Phase-I, with the revised rates awaiting approval from the provincial cabinet.
The proposal was placed on the agenda of the 57th meeting of the KP Cabinet. However, the meeting, which was scheduled for August 21, was postponed.
If approved, the toll for vehicles using Swat Expressway Phase-I will increase from Rs270 to Rs324.
The proposed hike forms part of the provincial government’s planned revision of toll rates for the expressway.
Separately, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (KPCTA) has introduced online registration and licensing services for tourism-related businesses across the province.
Through the BMIS Portal, the Tourist Services Wing (TSW) of KPCTA is providing a digital platform where tourism businesses can submit licensing applications, monitor their status and download approved licences online.
The facility covers a range of tourism businesses, including hotels, restaurants, guest houses, cafés, travel and tour operators, rent-a-car companies, ticketing agencies and tourist guides.
According to the authority, the initiative is aimed at bringing tourism businesses into a formal regulatory framework while improving service standards and promoting safe, reliable and quality tourism across the province.
Meanwhile, the KP government has also announced the ‘Pride of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Awards 2026’ to recognise outstanding contributions in the province.
