ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a forecast predicting rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds across several northern regions over the next week, starting from August 28 through September 6. The advisory warns residents of potential weather disruptions in multiple districts.
According to the department, areas such as Murree, the Galiyat belt, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, and Gujrat are likely to experience rainfall. Additionally, parts of Punjab including Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, and Mandi Bahauddin may also see showers during this period.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, several districts are forecast to encounter rain from August 29 to September 5. The weather system is also expected to impact regions of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, bringing much-needed precipitation.
The Met Office cautioned that heavy rainfall could lead to water logging in low-lying areas and increase the risk of flash floods in streams and nullahs, particularly in the upper elevations. Authorities have urged the public to stay vigilant, avoid unnecessary travel during storms, and remain alert to rapidly changing weather conditions.
Emergency services and relevant government agencies have been instructed to prepare for potential weather-related incidents and implement precautionary measures proactively. Citizens are advised to stay updated through official weather alerts and follow instructions from authorities to ensure safety during adverse weather events.
