LAHORE: In line with directives from the Punjab Chief Minister, the Punjab Police have launched a comprehensive review of police officers serving as Station House Officers (SHOs) across the province. The initiative aims to identify those involved in corruption and misconduct.
As part of this statewide investigation, police officials are gathering sensitive reports and service histories of SHOs from various districts. The Special Branch, along with other relevant agencies, has been tasked with providing detailed assessments of the officers under review.
Additionally, public opinion surveys are being carried out in local communities to evaluate the performance, integrity, and conduct of SHOs within their jurisdictions. This feedback aims to offer a clearer picture of each officer’s reputation among residents.
Punjab Police’s DIG Operations Faisal Kamran stated that decisive action would be taken only after all reports and evidence have been carefully examined. He emphasized that the police force is strictly adhering to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) issued by the Inspector General’s Office for the appointment and transfer of SHOs.
The DIG further clarified that officers with documented cases of corruption or misconduct would not be permitted to continue in their roles. All relevant reports, including criminal records and allegations, are scheduled to be submitted to the Lahore CCPO by Monday.
Officials assured that any officer found guilty of corruption or misconduct would face stern disciplinary measures under the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards police corruption.
