ISLAMABAD: In a move to enhance Pakistan’s disaster response and emergency services, China has announced the donation of 21 advanced fire and rescue vehicles worth approximately Rs 3 billion to Pakistan. The Chinese Embassy stated that this initiative aims to bolster Islamabad’s capabilities in managing natural calamities, fires, and other urgent situations.
The fleet, scheduled to arrive in September, includes specialized firefighting and rescue units, notably an 88-meter SNAR tender designed to improve high-rise rescue operations across the capital. This new equipment is expected to significantly advance Islamabad’s emergency response efficiency, especially in densely populated urban areas.
A Chinese Embassy spokesperson emphasized that the gift underscores the strong and enduring strategic partnership between China and Pakistan, highlighting their shared dedication to public safety and disaster resilience. The initiative also demonstrates the commitment of both nations to collaborate closely in safeguarding their communities.
The deployment of these modern vehicles will modernize Islamabad’s firefighting and rescue infrastructure, enabling faster and more effective responses to fires, complex emergencies, and incidents involving tall buildings.
