ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has reiterated the government’s resolve to provide targeted fuel subsidies to deserving sections of society in line with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s directives to maximise relief for the public.
He made these remarks while chairing a joint meeting of the National Steering Committee on the Fuel Subsidy Scheme and the Committee on Media Management for the Prime Minister’s Fuel Relief Scheme in Islamabad.
During the meeting, Dar directed relevant authorities to strengthen coordination between federal ministries and provincial governments to ensure the effective implementation of the relief initiative.
He stressed the need for smooth execution, efficient utilisation of resources and a comprehensive public awareness campaign to inform eligible citizens about the scheme.
The deputy prime minister also appreciated the cooperation and contributions of provincial administrations, along with the governments of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Participants reviewed the scheme’s operational progress, eligibility and targeting mechanisms, and the proposed implementation strategy.
The meeting also examined the media communication plan, with a focus on expanding public outreach, raising awareness among beneficiaries and ensuring the programme’s smooth rollout.
