Laila Naz Taj honoured with 2026 Dukhtaran-e-Pakistan Excellence award

WEB DESK: Laila Naz Taj has been presented with the Dukhtaran-e-Pakistan Excellence Award 2026 for her work supporting Pakistan’s social and institutional development.

Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani attended the ceremony as chief guest. The federal minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety presented the award.

The awards recognise women whose leadership and professional contributions have helped advance the country’s social, economic and institutional development. Taj’s citation highlighted her commitment to public service, nation-building and empowerment.

An alumna of Harvard Business School and the London School of Economics, Taj has worked in Pakistan, the UK, the US and Afghanistan, collaborating with governments, communities, development partners and civil society to turn policy priorities into practical initiatives.

Accepting the honour, she said she would continue supporting marginalised communities through the Aga Khan Development Network and promoting integrated, community-led development. She also thanked her parents and mentors for encouraging her to pursue excellence through achievement and perseverance.

Taj pledged to remain committed to Pakistan’s progress and the broader service of humanity.

The award was presented by the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund in partnership with the Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, and the Islamabad Centre of National Cohesion and Outreach.
