Karachi couple found dead at home suffered severe head injuries: Post-Mortem

KARACHI: A post-mortem examination of an elderly couple found dead at their residence in North Karachi has revealed severe head injuries, with police suspecting that the victims were attacked with a heavy, blunt object.

The deceased were identified as Muhammad Yamin, aged between 65 and 70, and his wife, Nafis Akhtar, aged between 60 and 65, according to the police surgeon.

Medical examinations confirmed that both victims had sustained deep and serious injuries to their heads.

Samples were collected during the post-mortem examinations and sent for chemical analysis to determine whether either victim had been administered poison or an intoxicating substance before being killed.

A murder case has been registered at Sir Syed Police Station on the complaint of Muhammad Anwar, the deceased man’s brother.

According to the complainant, the couple had recently returned to Pakistan from Canada. After their return, Yamin had asked his sister to vacate the house and started renovation work on the property.

On the day of the incident, the couple failed to respond to telephone calls, prompting Anwar to visit their residence. Using a duplicate key, he opened the door and discovered the bodies of his brother and sister-in-law lying in a pool of blood in the television lounge.

He subsequently informed the police, who reached the scene and launched an investigation.

Motive yet to be established

Police officials said the motive behind the double murder remains unclear, and no suspects have been identified so far.

Investigators have also been unable to locate the labourers who were reportedly working at the property, raising further questions about their possible whereabouts.

Police have launched efforts to trace the missing workers and are questioning labourers in the surrounding area, along with other individuals considered relevant to the investigation.

The findings of the chemical analysis are expected to help investigators determine whether any intoxicating or poisonous substance was used before the killings.
