PTI chief calls for Bushra Bibi meetings, release of Imran Khan’s sisters

ISLAMABAD: PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has called for meetings with Bushra Bibi to be allowed and for the release of the sisters of party founder Imran Khan, saying these steps should follow the conclusion of the party’s long march.

Speaking to reporters outside Parliament House, Gohar said Imran Khan had authorised Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Allama Raja Nasir Abbas to conduct talks. He said discussions had covered the situation after Governor’s Rule and emergency measures were imposed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, adding that there had been no tensions between those involved.

Gohar urged that the issues be settled definitively and Parliament strengthened. He alleged that some people were seeking to drive a wedge between PTI and a major state institution, while also acknowledging the sacrifices made by the Pakistan Army.

Commenting on the situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he said arresting the chief minister of a smaller province would not help resolve matters. He also said PTI MNA Naseem Shah had been arrested on Monday.

“You have seven governments, while our government was taken away through deception,” Gohar said.

The Peshawar High Court is scheduled to hear a challenge to the imposition of Governor’s Rule on Tuesday.
