QUETTA: Security forces foiled an attempted drone attack on a security installation in Balochistan by shooting down five unmanned aerial vehicles before they could reach their targets, security sources said on Friday.
According to the sources, militants belonging to what Pakistan describes as the Indian-backed Fitna al-Hindustan attempted to strike a security checkpost in the Albat area of Kharan district.
However, security personnel swiftly responded to the threat and successfully intercepted and destroyed all five drones before they could hit the intended target.
No casualties or damage to property were reported in the incident, the sources added.
Last month, Pakistan’s air defence system also intercepted eight drones that had entered the country’s airspace from Afghanistan, according to security sources.
They said the armed forces detected and neutralised all eight unmanned aircraft, preventing the attempted airspace violation.
The sources further stated that Pakistan’s air defence network along the Pak-Afghan border, operated by the Pakistan Air Force, remained fully functional and maintained round-the-clock readiness.
