ISLAMABAD: A couple and their two young children were found murdered at their home near Madina Colony in Skardu, police said.
The victims were identified as Ghulam Abbas, his wife Hania Zahra, and their children, four-year-old Mehdi and two-year-old Dia Zahra. Their bodies were taken to hospital.
Police said the killings are believed to have happened during the night, but authorities were notified the following day. The house has been sealed as the investigation continues. The victims’ father was from Talor in Rondu, Baltistan, while Hania Zahra was from Parachinar. Police said the family had been attacked with a knife.
Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister took notice of the incident and asked the Inspector General of Police to submit a report. Baltistan DIG Asif Mumtaz said all available resources would be deployed to track down those responsible, describing the killings as intolerable.
In a separate case, two men suspected of raping and killing five-year-old Aun Abbas were shot dead during an encounter with Crime Control Department police in Muridke tehsil, Sheikhupura district.
Police said four suspected robbers opened fire on a police vehicle after officers spotted them on 34 Chak Road. Two suspects were killed in the exchange, while two others fled. The dead men were identified as Asif and Muneeb.
Investigators had allegedly linked the pair to Aun Abbas’s killing. Police said the suspects lived near the child and that his body had been dumped in a village pond. Aun was the only brother among five sisters.
