HANGU: Six members of a family, including two women and three children, were killed after a gunman opened fire inside their home in the Sarokhel area of Hangu district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The incident occurred within the limits of Doaba Police Station, leaving all six victims dead at the scene.
District Police Officer (DPO) Salahuddin Kundi confirmed that the deceased included the head of the family, Noor Rehman, two women and three young children.
According to preliminary police findings, Noor Rehman’s nephew has been identified as the prime suspect. Police said he was reportedly addicted to drugs.
Investigators believe a family dispute may have triggered the killings. Noor Rehman had allegedly objected to his nephew bringing friends, who were also reportedly involved in drug use, to the house.
Police shifted the bodies to Doaba Hospital for medico-legal formalities.
DPO Kundi said investigators were looking into all possible angles to determine the circumstances and motive behind the attack.
The suspect reportedly escaped after the shooting, prompting police to conduct raids to arrest him. Further investigation is underway.
