ISLAMABAD: Leader of Opposition in Senate, Yousuf Raza Gillani said on Tuesday that the speech made by Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi was not what a foreign minister should be saying as it was nothing but disrespect to the upper house of the Parliament.
Former Prime Minister and Senior Vice Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Yousuf Raza Gillani said, “Qureshi was my companion when I was speaker of National Assembly and then PM Benazir Bhutto had told me to teach a thing or two about politics to him.”
“I will reply to the foreign minister in the Parliament, “he said.
He said that accepting or rejecting the resignation was his party’s decision.
Earlier, Shah Mahmood Qureshi in his speech in Senate today said that parliament is sovereign and all the reports of central Bank will come before it for scrutiny. The Foreign Minister regretted the criticism of Leader of Opposition in the Senate against the Chair.
He said the chair acted in accordance with the rule and used his discretion to vote in favour of SBP Amendment bill.
He said that the whole nation is in a dilemma as to what is the matter adding that he (Yousuf Raza Gillani) said to senator Dilawar to appear in Senate for voting on the SBP bill but he (Gillani) himself not attended the session.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi asked that did he (Gillani) not elect from buying the vote? While he predicted that the PPP will deceive the PML-N in future again.
Qureshi said that resignation of the opposition leader Yousuf Raza Gillani was a lie and Gillani will withdraw from his decision.
Qureshi also questioned the Opposition leader in Senate is he not facing trials in the Election Commission of Pakistan? he said that today as well the petition of the opposition leader is under hearing in the ECP.
