QG Beat Lahore Qalandars

KARACHI: Quetta Gladiators batter Jason Roy shined as he sailed his team to a seven-wicket victory against Lahore Qalandars in the 15th match of the seventh edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2022 at National Cricket Stadium on Monday.

Playing first, Lahore Qalandars set 205 runs target for Quetta Gladiators. Invited to bat, Lahore were watchful in the powerplay as they scored 44 without losing a wicket. The openers took a lot of risks with their running and it eventually led to Abdullah Shafique s downfall.

The in-form Fakhar Zaman wasn t at his fluent best but that didn t stop him from notching up his fourth 50+ score in five innings. The left-handed opener perished in the 17th over but the Brook-Wiese duo went berserk in the end, scoring 55 runs in 20 balls.

Harry Brook has played a gem of an innings with 41 off just 17 deliveries and it was a knock full of classy strokes.

Earlier, Quetta Gladiators had won the toss and opted to field against Lahore Qalandars.

In an earlier match, Quetta Gladiators lost a match to Islamabad United by 43-run in the 10th match of the seventh edition of the PSL 2022 at National Cricket Stadium.

Quetta Gladiators looked clueless in their run-chase, which was further compounded by accurate bowling and athletic fielding to be bundled out for 186 in 19.3 overs after they had slipped to 110 for seven before Mohammad Nawaz and James Faulkner added 76 runs for the eighth wicket.

Lahore Qalandars fast bowler Zaman Khan produced a stunning final over conceding a mere three runs with 12 needed for a win by Islamabad United to earn a thrilling win for his side in the 12th fixture of the Pakistan Super League 7 played at the National Stadium, Karachi on Saturday.

The right-arm pacer dismissed Asif Ali (14) on the penultimate ball of the match before bowling a dot ball to Faheem Ashraf to seal his side’s dramatic eight-run win.
