Islamabad: Speaker National Assembly (NA) Asad Qaiser on Monday (today) contacted the assembly secretariat over a no-trust motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan.
The Speaker NA asked questions regarding assembly members voting.
The Speaker asked question, can he stop members casting their votes who deviate from their original parties.
To which respective officers of the secretariat apprised the speaker that the members can’t be stopped for casting their votes while the action will be taken later against any member who go against the party policy
They informed that article 63 1A is very clear in this regard.
The speaker also asked, if a PM or party chief whip inform about suspected members then what action can be taken? Can ruling be given before the voting against members who go against the party policy?
To which officials said that speaker can play role after receiving official declaration from a party chairman.
They informed that a speaker has authority to give ruling, however, law and constitution is clear on the matter.
