Islamabad: A vital Financial Action Task Force (FATF) meeting is starting today in capital of Germany, Berlin. State Minister for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar will represent Pakistan in the meeting.
The meeting will continue till June 17, in which chances of Pakistan to get rid of the FATF gray list is bright.
For the purpose the Foreign Office has prepared strategy in this regard. The matters regarding Pakistan will be discussed on June 15 to June 16.
It is expected that Pakistan name from the grey list will be removed. As Pakistan has completed 32 points of FATF out of 34.
As per the ministry of finance, Pakistan has completed implementation on 26 out of 27 with regards to 2018 action plan of the FATF.
Pakistan has completed implementation on six points out of seven from the FATF 2021 action plan.
Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar will lead the country’s delegation at the plenary meeting of Financial Action Task Force (FATF)..
Khar, also the Chair of Pakistan’s National FATF Coordination Committee, will present a review of Pakistan’s progress under the 2018 and 2021 FATF Action Plans, the Foreign Office said Tuesday.
The plenary will review the recommendations of FATF’s International Cooperation Review Group (ICRG).
The Minister of State will also hold meetings with the incoming and outgoing FATF Presidents, Executive Secretary of the FATF, and heads of delegations of FATF member states to apprise them of the tremendous progress made by Pakistan for completing both FATF Action Plans.
MoS Khar will underscore the government’s high-level political commitment to further strengthen Pakistan’s domestic AML CFT regime.
During the visit, the MoS will also hold meetings with dignitaries in Germany in the context of Pakistan-Germany bilateral relations.
The MoS is accompanied by a senior-level delegation.
Germany is hosting the FATF Plenary meeting in Berlin from 13-17 June 2022.
