Islamabad: An First Information Report (FIR) has been registered over the fire in Centaurus Mall Islamabad yesterday.
The FIR has been registered on the complaint of Police Station Margala Station House Officer (SHO) Mateen Chaudhry. While the fire incident FIR was registered under section 436.
As per the FIR, unidentified people set on fire the building on unknown resons. The tower A of the mall was intensevily engulfed by the fire.
The rescue institutions were busy in the extinguishing the fire.
Earlier, the fire at Centaurus Mall in Islamabad has been extinguished. Chief Commissioner Islamabad Captain, retired, Muhammad Usman said the fire has been controlled after two-hour long operation.
He said fire brigade, Pakistan Navy, Pakistan Air Force and Rescue 1122 participated in the operation.
Earlier, the fire had erupted at Centaurus Mall in Islamabad. Senior police officials, including IG Islamabad Dr Akbar Nasir Khan, administration officers and rescue teams are at the spot while an alternative plan has been issued to maintain the flow of traffic.
The rescue teams safely pulled out the people trapped in the shopping mall from the back side of the building, after which the teams conducted a search operation inside the mall.
Fire brigades and a helicopter were also called to douse the fire. No casualties reported . The fire broke out at the Monal restaurant, sources revealed, adding that the entire food court was engulfed in flames.
The cause of the fire is yet to be identified.
Pakistan Navy (PN) and Pakistan Air Force (PAF) had also assisted dousing the fire at the Islamabad shopping mall.
