ISLAMABAD: In the latest blow to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Asad Umar announced Wednesday that he was stepping down as the party’s secretary general over May 9 mayhem when party workers and supporters attacked public and military installations almost across the country.
Asad Umar strongly condemned the May 9 violence and demanded strict action against those who are involved in attacks our military installations.
Umar also demanded inquiry into the May 9 violent protests several ‘innocent’ people are also rounded up.
Asad Umar was released from the Adiala Jail, earlier in the day, on the Islamabad High Court’s (IHC) order.
A contingent of the Punjab Police reached the jail following Umar’s release. However, sources said former federal minister left the jail in a private vehicle.
