Sindh proposes up to 35% hike in government employees’ salaries

The Sindh government has proposed increasing government employees’ salaries by up to 35% in the provincial budget for fiscal year 2023-24.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah made the announcement on Saturday as he tabled a provincial budget of Rs2.2 trillion for the financial year 2023-24 with a development outlay of Rs700.1 billion, which centers around the rehabilitation of flood-affected people and provides social protection to the poor people of the province.

The chief minister proposed increasing the salaries of government employees of grade 1-16 by 35% and officers of grade 17 and above by 30%.

The provincial finance bill also recommended 17.5% hike in the pensions and proposed increasing minimum wage to Rs35,550.
