Islamabad: The Supreme Court (SC) on Monday declared lifetime disqualification under 62,1(f) null and void.
The SC seven member bench headed by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa comprising Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah, Justice Yahya Afridi, Justice Aminuddin Khan, Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail, Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Musarrat Hilali, is hearing the case.
The SC pronounced the verdict with 6-1 majority.
The SC larger bench pronounced the verdict live on the apex court’s website.
Justice Yahya Afridi opposed the majority verdict while the SC eradicated verdict of Sami Ullah Baloch.
The SC remarked that it is basic right of all the citizens to take part in the election as the SC annulled the lifetime disqualification.
It is pertinent to mention here that, the SC on January 5, Friday reserved verdict in the lifetime disqualification case and the case of regarding article 62 1(f),
