RAWALPINDI: In the 20th match of HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 9 , Islamabad United defeated Peshawar Zalmi by 29 runs.
In the match being played in Rawalpindi, Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam won the toss and invited Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan to bat first.
Islamabad United scored 196 runs for the loss of 4 wickets while playing first, Islamabad captain Shadab Khan played an aggressive innings of 80 runs off 51 balls, hitting 4 fours and 6 sixes.
Agha Salman played an innings of 37 runs while Jordan Cox and Azam Khan remained not out scoring 26 and 29 runs respectively, Saeem Ayub took 2 wickets while Salman Irshad and Luke Wood took one wicket each for Peshawar Zalmi.
Chasing a target of 197 runs, Peshawar Zalmi’s 5 wickets fell for 18 runs, followed by Amir Jamal and Walter’s 106-run partnership, Aamir Jamal played an innings of 87 runs off 48 balls with the help of 6 sixes and 8 fours, Walter scored 33 runs, Peshawar Zalmi team could score 167 runs for the loss of 9 wickets.
On behalf of Islamabad, Shadab Khan took 3 wickets, Haneen Shah and Ruman Raees took 2 and 2 wickets respectively. In PSL 9, Islamabad United defeated Peshawar Zalmi to win the event for the third time. With this victory, they are tied with Peshawar Zalmi for 7 points, but on the basis of better run rate, they have moved to third place, Multan Sultans are at the top position with 12 points and have qualified for the play-off stage, Quetta Gladiators are second with 9 points, Karachi Kings are fifth and Lahore Qalandars are at the last position
