Multan Sultans qualify for the final after ease win over Peshawar Zalmi

KARACHI: In the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 9 qualifier, Multan Sultans defeated Peshawar Zulmi by 7 wickets and qualified for the final.

Multan Sultans achieved Peshawar Zalmi’s target of 147 runs at the loss of 3 wickets in the 19th over, Yasir Khan was outstanding by scoring 54 runs.

Two top teams of PSL 9, Multan Sultans and Peshawar Zalmi competed in the Qualifier at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi. Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam won the toss and elected to bat.

Multan Sultans made one change in the team, Tayyab Tahir was replaced by Khushdil Shah, while Peshawar Zalmi made two changes, Paul Walter and Salman Irshad were replaced by Naveenul Haq and Amil Khan. Peshawar Zalmi scored 146 runs for 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs against Multan Sultans. Captain Babar Azam scored 46 runs. Apart from this, Cadmore scored 24 runs, Mohammad Haris scored 22 runs, Saeem Ayub scored one run, Haseebullah scored 3 runs, and Romain Paul scored 12 runs. Paul Walter and Lockwood remained not out with 14 and 14 runs respectively. On behalf of Multan Sultans, Chris Jordan and Osama Mir took 2, 2 wickets. David Wiley, Muhammad Ali and Abbas Afridi dismissed one player each.

Multan Sultans easily achieved Peshawar Zalmi’s target of 147 runs at the loss of 3 wickets in the 19th over. Yasir Khan played an innings of 54 runs, which included one six and seven fours.

Apart from this, Usman Khan played an unbeaten innings of 36 runs while Iftikhar Ahmed was also not out with 22 runs. Mohammad Rizwan scored 15 runs and Johnson Charles scored 11 runs.

It should be noted that Peshawar Zalmi did not get out of the race for the final despite the defeat in the qualifier match, they will compete with the winning team of Eliminator One.

Elementron will be between Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators today. The losing team will end their journey.
