KARACHI: Former captain of the Pakistan cricket team, Shahid Afridi, expressed his condolences over the martyrdom of renowned Islamic scholar and former Member of Assembly, Maulana Idris Tarangzai.
In a statement posted on Afridi’s official Facebook page, it was conveyed that Afridi was deeply saddened by the news of Maulana Mohammad Idris Tarangzai’s martyrdom, which occurred in a cowardly attack.
The statement prayed for Allah to accept his sacrifice, elevate his status, grant him a high place in Jannah (Paradise), and bestow patience upon his family. Amen.
Afridi remarked that this star of knowledge and piety will always be remembered. He also expressed hope that the killers will be brought to justice soon.
It is noteworthy that on Tuesday morning, in the Atta Niaz area of Charsadda, extremist militants targeted the prominent scholar and former MPA, Maulana Mohammad Idris, killing him in a terrorist attack.
The attack took place as Maulana Idris was on his way from his home to a madrassa. He was in a vehicle along with two police personnel and a driver. The assailants opened fire from behind, resulting in Maulana Idris’s martyrdom and injuries to two police officers.
An FIR regarding the killing has been registered at the CTD Police Station in Mardan.
