AJK govt pledges to maintain law, order, and normalcy

A.J.KASHMIR: The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government has reaffirmed its dedication to upholding law and order, safeguarding citizens’ lives and property, and restoring a peaceful environment.

This commitment was articulated by AJK Special Secretary for Home, Chaudhry Guftar Hussain, during a joint press conference with AJK Police Spokesperson Irfan Masood Kashfi in Muzaffarabad today.

Chaudhry Guftar emphasized that no armed or violent faction will be permitted to challenge the authority of the state. He pointed out that the banned Awami Action Committee has been actively attempting to destabilize peace, undermine the authority of the government, and disrupt daily life in the region.

He accused the group of employing protests, propaganda, and social media misinformation to incite unrest against state institutions. The Home Secretary condemned the group’s tactics, including exploiting women, children, and students as human shields during demonstrations—calling such practices unethical and dangerous to their safety and future.

Furthermore, he accused the banned organization of spreading anti-Pakistan sentiments, targeting security forces, obstructing highways, and hampering the supply of essential goods.

Chaudhry Guftar assured that the upcoming general elections, scheduled for the 27th of this month, will proceed smoothly and transparently. He highlighted the government’s commitment to ensuring free, fair, and peaceful electoral processes, with political campaigns ongoing peacefully across the region.

In response, the AJK Police Spokesperson stated that law enforcement agencies have the situation firmly under control. Operations are ongoing to restore normalcy, especially by clearing key highways and safeguarding public safety.

He added that efforts are focused on ensuring the continuous supply of essential commodities and reviving economic activities for traders and citizens. The operation will persist until all routes are fully reopened, aiming to establish enduring peace, uphold the rule of law, and facilitate free movement across the region.
