WEB DESK: Actor and Sajal Aly’s brother-in-law, Ali Ansari, has publicly defended host Nadia Khan following the social media backlash over her comments regarding a scene featuring Sajal Aly.
The controversy arose during a morning show discussion with host Zohaib Hassan, where Nadia shared her opinions about the execution of a particular scene. Hassan noted that industry insiders often face harsh online reactions when sharing views on acting or production elements, and he clarified that Nadia’s remarks were about the technical aspects of the scene, not a critique of Sajal Aly’s talent.
Ali Ansari, who maintains close ties with both Nadia and Sajal, emphasized that Sajal is like family to him, and Nadia is a longtime acquaintance. He described Nadia as a candid and spirited individual who speaks her mind freely during conversations.
Ansari explained that Nadia’s comments were natural and aimed at the technical execution, specifically criticizing the editing and audio synchronization, rather than questioning Sajal’s acting abilities. He highlighted that opinions on art are subjective, and differing viewpoints are normal in creative discussions.
Expressing his stance on online criticism, Ali remarked, “If you’re receiving hate, it often means you’re doing something right.”
Nadia further clarified her original statement, reaffirming that she respects Sajal’s acting and was only pointing out technical issues with the scene’s sound and editing, not criticizing her performance.
She has previously praised Sajal’s work and given high ratings when she genuinely appreciated an actress’s performance.
Ali also criticized how social media platforms tend to condense lengthy debates into brief clips, stripping away context and sometimes distorting the original message. Nadia noted that she often faces trolling, even when expressing appreciation for other actresses like Durefishan Saleem, and said such online hostility has become a regular challenge in her public life.
