Bab-e-Dosti remains closed as situation tense at Chaman border

Chaman (May 07, 2017): Situation is still tense at Pak-Afghan border in Chaman on third day following the unprovoked firing by Afghan border police that killed at least 12 people in border villages inside Pakistan.

Border crossing, Bab-e-Dosti, at Chaman remained closed for third consecutive days due to which long queue of vehicles can be seen on both sides of the borders. Due to the tense situation, the census exercise has also been stalled in the borders areas.

As the border crossing remained closed, NATO supplies and trade activities have also came to a halt. The personnel of Pakistan Army and FC are present at the border to monitor the situation. They are also stopping people from crossing the border. Even trucks with good are not being allowed to move across the border or remain parked.

Pakistan Army and FC are alert to respond any kind of aggression from Afghan side.

The borders villages some four kilometers inside Pakistan have been vacated and camps have been set up five kilometers away from the borders. Director General Provincial disaster Management Authority Muhammad Tariq said that some two thousands affected families have been accommodated in the camps.

He added that the families were being provided with rations and other necessary supplies.
