WEB DESK: Russian officials have disclosed that Bashar al-Assad resigned from the presidency before leaving Syria. They also mentioned that al-Assad had instructed for a peaceful transfer of power as he left the presidential palace.
Furthermore, Russian officials stated that al-Assad had made the decision to leave both the presidency and the country.
China has expressed hope that the situation in Syria will soon return to normal, while Egypt has called on all parties to work towards the country’s stability.
Germany has welcomed the end of Bashar al-Assad’s regime, considering it a positive development for the Syrian people. Meanwhile, newly elected U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the United States has no involvement in the Syrian conflict and should not become involved.
On the other hand, the Israeli military has entered the Syrian city of Quneitra. Israeli officials say they will attempt to prevent rebels from taking control of weapons belonging to Bashar al-Assad’s army, noting that Syrian rebels do not have the capability to fight Israel.
